No Time to Lose campaign in Slovenia

The Society of Safety Engineers Ljubljana is supporting IOSH’s No Time to Lose campaign.

The campaign, which aims to get carcinogenic exposure issues more widely understood and help businesses take action, is working to:

  • raise awareness of a significant health issue facing workers
  • suggest some solutions to tackle the problem
  • offer free, practical, original materials to businesses to help them deliver effective prevention programmes.

“In Slovenia, around 400 workers are diagnosed each year with occupational cancers, and around 30 cases are from the most severe form of disease caused by asbestos – mesothelioma. In the past, many businesses in Slovenia used asbestos, resulting in an estimated annual exposure of over 23,000 workers.

“By highlighting work-related carcinogenic exposures, IOSH’s No Time to Lose campaign will help to raise awareness not only of diseases due to asbestos, but also other work-related carcinogenic exposures. The campaign offers practical support to employers and safety professionals to help them tackle this significant occupational health issue.”

“The Society of Safety Engineers Ljubljana is pleased to support this campaign and we will work with IOSH in furthering its aims.”
