No Time to Lose showcased at major cancer conference in Malta
IOSH’s No Time to Lose campaign will be exhibited exclusively at the ‘Final Conference of the Joint Action on Comprehensive Cancer Control’ at the Hilton hotel in Malta, on 14-15 February 2017.
The conference has been organised to coincide with the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and aims to share solutions from the European Guide on Quality Improvement in Comprehensive Cancer Control (CANCON).
CANCON was launched in 2014 and is a joint action initiative co-funded by participating organisations, institutes, universities, health care providers, and the EU Commission to reduce the cancer burden in the European Union.
Delegates from across Europe will hear the key findings, recommendations, and policies on cancer control from CANCON. Health Ministers will also participate in a panel discussion on how the recommendations can be implemented across the European Union.
Key topics including tackling social inequalities in cancer prevention and control for the European population, managing cancer care, screening, and implementing care plans for survivors will also be highlighted at the event.

“In Europe, it is estimated that around 100,000 people die from occupational cancer annually. These cancers are caused by exposure to carcinogens such as asbestos and silica dust, to diesel fumes and solar radiation.
“Our No Time to Lose campaign aims to raise awareness of cancer caused by work and provide businesses with free practical resources to help prevent exposure.
“We’re delighted to be exhibiting our campaign at the conference and raising awareness in Europe. More than 180 organisations around the world are supporting No Time to Lose and have agreed to raise awareness of work cancer. By working together we can beat occupational cancer.”
