Experts to put asbestos safety under the spotlight
Safety experts can hear the latest legal thinking around the removal of asbestos
25 November 2014
The Bristol and West Branch of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) will discuss the topic when it meets at the BAWA Club, in Southmead Road, Filton, from 8am on Thursday 11 December.
Phil Bloomer, of asbestos removal specialists Shield Environmental, will lead the discussion with a talk around legal compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
The event is free to attend, and aimed at safety practitioners, facilities managers and anyone working within the construction and installation sectors.
IOSH, the world’s biggest professional safety and health organisation, recently launched its No Time to Lose campaign to raise awareness about occupational cancers.
Around 8,000 people die from cancer and around 14,000 contract the disease each year in the UK because of exposure to a work-related carcinogen, such as diesel exhaust fumes, silica dust or asbestos fibres.
