Cyprus Safety and Health Association

Safety comes first and health follows. It is time to set things the other way around – we need to consider health more seriously. Occupational cancer prevention is a necessity.

Many people are exposed daily to various carcinogenic agents at work, including radiation, wood and silica dust and asbestos fibres. Unfortunately, they don’t realise how harmful this can be for their health, until work-caused cancer knocks on their door.

We need more education on how to recognise occupational risks and take prevention measures in order to avoid and control exposure to these unhealthy substances.

Cyprus Safety and Health Association embraces IOSH’s No Time to Lose campaign and will focus its efforts on raising awareness on occupational cancers and how to prevent them. As Benjamin Franklin said, ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’.
