The Isle of Man Branch executive aims to promote good health, safety and welfare practice on the Isle of Man. Our primary aim is to always provide a quality service to our membership.

Who are we?

Chairman: Peter Quirk MSc, MSoc Sci CFIOSH

Peter Quirk

Peter is the Health and Safety Advisor for Isle of Man Government Cabinet Office OHR. A member of IOSH since 2005, Peter has 32 years experience in the oil industry, starting out as a junior clerk, and progressing through the ranks from a tanker delivery driver, into various management roles to his current dual role responsibility.

Tony Q IOM

Tony has recently retired as Head of Fixed Access Network Services & Health and Safety Manager at Manx Telecom Limited where he was actively employed within the telecommunications industry for over 38 years and previously within the motor industry.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health and is recognised for his voluntary work and activities in various areas of Manx Life.
Tony sits on the Isle of Man Government "Event Safety Advisory Group" currently Chair IOSH Isle of Man (International) Branch Chair.
Well known for his voluntary involvement in motorsport on island being Event Safety Officer for Rally Isle of Man, The Manx National Rally and Pokerstars Rally. Tony is a member of the Motor Sports Association (MSA) Safety Advisory Panel and an MSA Safety Delegate.
His hobbies include walking, DIY and watching motor sports including F1, Moto GP and Rallying.

 

Treasurer: Mike Taylor, CMIOSH, Cert Mgmt (Open), MCMI, MIDGTE, EngTech.

Mike is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner and the Health and Safety Engineer for the Manx Utilities Authority.

A Mechanical Engineer by trade, Mike spent 16 years as a Field Service Engineer installing, commissioning and servicing Power Generation Equipment in over 30 countries worldwide.

An Isle of Man resident since 1990, he joined Manx Utilities (when known as the MEA) in 2000 as a Technician, and held the positions of Charge Engineer, Shift Manager and Production Manager, before moving to his current role in 2007.

 

Executive Member: Apostolis (Tolis) Arkoudogiannis MSc, MIET, MIOSH

IoM Arkoudogiannis

Environment health and safety manager at Triumph Actuation Systems Isle of Man Ltd. Tolis worked in machine tool manufacturing and aerospace as a qualified Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer since 1996.

He moved to EHS in 2007 and is currently working on his Level 5 in occupational health and safety practise. Tolis likes gardening, walking and computers.

 

Executive Member: Andy Cooil, CMIOSH, MIIRSM

Andy CooilAndy is the Health & Safety Manager for the recently formed Manx Utilities Authority.

His previous role was that of HSE Manager for the Manx Electricity Authority and has 30 years of experience working within the electricity supply industry.

 

 

Executive Member: David Randle

david randleDavid started his career with Randles Accumulator Company in the late sixties at an Electrical Contractors and manufacturers of hand made lead acid batteries.
 
Setting up his own company; Randles Limited, approx 25 years ago, the company are Fire Alarm Engineers who install, test and maintain fire alarms. David’s company are also Part P Certified Electrical Contractors.
 
David’s hobbies include motorcycling, skiing, music and reading.  His perfect day is to spend time with his six grandchildren.

My career in the construction industry spans over   33 years to date this is spilt into two sectors Building and Civils. During this period I held various positions from Site Manager, Site Works Manager, Engineer and now currently hold the position of Project Engineer  for the Department of Infrastructure’s Highways Services Division. This involves the control of all Health & Safety for all construction projects from start to finish including the management of the contracts from start to completion and handover.

I am a well respected individual within the industry both in the Department and in private industry, I have worked abroad on large and small projects and now work mainly on the island. I have recently been awarded Chartered Construction Manager status from the CIOB and also hold a position on the local branch of the committee.

I have just completed phase 1 of Douglas Promenade and have been working with the design team and Burroughs Stewarts on the completion of the next phases.
