James Bell CMIOSH - Committee Member

James Bell B&W.jpgI have been involved in health and safety for over 10 years. My background is in construction having initially completed a HND in Building Studies and running my own general building business for 15 years. I have also spent 11 years in Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service as a Whole-time Firefighter. It was during this time I decided to pursue a career in Health and Safety and so started my journey as the Station Health and Safety Representative.

During a gap year from the Fire Service I completed an Occupational Health and Safety degree gaining my BSc with Honours. I then moved into a fulltime safety adviser role for 4 years with a Principal Contractor. I honed my skills and put my knowledge into practice within the workplace learning a great deal about people and business and helping several site teams to achieve recognition at the NHBC Health and Safety awards.

I have been a Chartered Member for 2 years now and would like to assist others with progression in their respective IOSH levels. I really enjoy working as a safety professional and I am passionate about what I do having a real desire to make a difference.
