The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Silica dust can be spread by cutting plaster casts from patients.

Using good extraction equipment, damp cleaning and good face-fitting masks can make a big difference – vacuuming is the key (and binning the broom) to clearer lungs. We still see workers using cutting gear at the side of the road with no protection whatsoever, spreading dust everywhere, including into the path of pedestrians.

Cancer is a terrible ordeal to go through and seeing a close family member or friend die from what the cancer does to them is horrendous. Time is against us, so let’s act now.
